Why we built CertiHomes Education
Founder Krishna Malyala’s daughter was completing dual-enrollment courses at Middlesex College while attending high school and planned to study marine biology.
The family wanted to answer a seemingly simple question: Could she complete approximately 60 college credits during high school, transfer those credits into a four-year New Jersey university and potentially save two years of tuition?
The answer was scattered across AP-credit policies, community-college course agreements, university transfer rules, individual major requirements, FAFSA calculations, net-price tools and thousands of scholarship pages.
NJTransfer could help determine whether individual New Jersey community-college courses transferred. But it could not show whether her complete combination of AP and dual-enrollment credits would apply to a particular major, how many semesters would remain, what the family would actually pay or which scholarships matched her profile.
Krishna had previously developed the patent-pending True Lifestyle Cost platform, which helps homebuyers compare homes using the complete monthly cost of ownership rather than listing price alone. He applied the same principle to college:
